Workday Finance Project Manager Consultant
Position Overview
Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Workday Finance Project Manager Consultant to support a major Workday Financial Management implementation with a planned July go-live.
This role is critical to ensuring successful adoption across operational and finance teams. The consultant will serve as the bridge between Workday Finance configuration, project delivery, and healthcare operational workflows, translating system capabilities into practical business outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare finance transformation experience, strong Workday Financials implementation expertise, and a proven ability to guide organizations through modernization beyond legacy ERP limitations.
This project is 6 months to start and travel to Montgomery, AL will be required for 3 to 4 days of orientation and then for the Go-Live.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead project management activities supporting the Workday Financials implementation through go-live.
Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across Finance, Supply Chain, Revenue Cycle, and operational stakeholders.
Manage timelines, risks, dependencies, and deliverables aligned to implementation milestones.
Partner with system integrator and internal leadership to ensure execution stays aligned with strategic objectives.
Drive issue resolution and escalation management.
Workday Finance Translation & Operational Alignment
Translate Workday Financials configuration and design decisions into operational impacts for healthcare departments.
Act as liaison between:
Workday functional/configuration teams
Finance leadership
Operational and clinical stakeholders
Ensure workflows align with healthcare operational realities and compliance requirements.
Help stakeholders understand how Workday differs from legacy ERP systems and what new capabilities enable.
Transformation & Change Leadership
Educate business leaders on:
What Workday can do out of the box
Best practices enabled by Workday
Opportunities beyond prior ERP constraints
Drive adoption of standardized processes and discourage legacy-system replication.
Support organizational readiness and operational change management activities.
Facilitate decision-making sessions and design validation workshops.
Go-Live Readiness
Support testing coordination, cutover planning, and deployment readiness.
Ensure operational teams understand new financial processes prior to go-live.
Partner with training and change teams to reinforce adoption strategies.
Assist with stabilization planning and post-go-live transition.
Required Qualifications
7+ years project management experience supporting ERP or Workday implementations.
Direct Workday Financials implementation experience (multiple phases or full lifecycle preferred).
Healthcare industry experience — REQUIRED
Hospital systems, health networks, or healthcare finance environments strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience translating system configuration into operational workflows.
Strong understanding of healthcare finance operations, such as:
Procure-to-Pay
General Ledger
Supply Chain/Materials Management
Financial reporting structures
Experience managing stakeholders across finance and operational departments.
Proven ability to lead organizations through ERP modernization and process change.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Workday Financials Project Manager or Functional Lead experience.
Experience replacing legacy healthcare ERP platforms (Lawson, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Meditech, etc.).
PMP, Agile, or equivalent certification.
Experience working alongside Workday implementation partners or SIs.
Strong facilitation and executive communication skills.
